The standards (our summaries)

Wyoming's official codes with our own short summaries (not the official wording). Each code links to the official document.

Mathematical Practices (MP)

  • 7.MP.1 Solve real problems, analyze results and refine strategies.
  • 7.MP.2 Use numbers and variables to represent contexts, reasoning abstractly and concretely.
  • 7.MP.3 Build and critique arguments about problems with rational numbers.
  • 7.MP.4 Model situations with diagrams, tables, graphs or formulas and check results.
  • 7.MP.5 Choose and use tools and representations strategically.
  • 7.MP.6 Communicate precisely with accurate labels, units and answers.
  • 7.MP.7 Look for and use structure in patterns and expressions.
  • 7.MP.8 Notice repeated reasoning and simplify expressions.

Ratios and Proportional Relationships (RP)

  • 7.RP.2 Recognize and represent proportional relationships.
    • 7.RP.2a Decide whether tables or graphs show a proportional relationship.
    • 7.RP.2b Find the constant of proportionality (unit rate) in different forms.
    • 7.RP.2c Write equations for proportional relationships.
    • 7.RP.2d Explain what a point (x, y), especially (0, 0) and (1, r), means in context.
  • 7.RP.3 Solve multi-step ratio and percent problems.

The Number System (NS)

  • 7.NS.3 Solve real problems using all four operations with rational numbers.

Expressions and Equations (EE)

  • 7.EE.1 Use properties of operations to add, subtract, factor and expand linear expressions.
  • 7.EE.4 Use linear equations and inequalities in one variable in real situations.
    • 7.EE.4a Write and solve equations of the form ax + b = c and a(x + b) = c.
    • 7.EE.4b Write and solve multi-step equations using the distributive property and like terms (no variables on both sides).
    • 7.EE.4c Write, solve and graph two-step inequalities and interpret them.
    • 7.EE.4d Identify and justify the steps for solving multi-step equations and two-step inequalities.

Geometry (G)

  • 7.G.4 Investigate circles.
    • 7.G.4a Understand the proportional relationships among diameter, radius and circumference.
    • 7.G.4b Understand pi as the constant ratio of circumference to diameter.
    • 7.G.4c Use circumference and area formulas to solve problems.
  • 7.G.5 Use angle relationships to write and solve equations for unknown angles.
  • 7.G.6 Solve real problems about area, surface area and volume.
    • 7.G.6a Find area and surface area of shapes made of triangles and quadrilaterals.
    • 7.G.6b Find the volume of right prisms with triangular or quadrilateral bases.

Statistics and Probability (SP)

  • 7.SP.1 Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population.
    • 7.SP.1a Know a sample is a subset of a population.
    • 7.SP.1b Tell random from non-random sampling.
    • 7.SP.1c Know generalizations from a sample are valid only if it represents the population.
    • 7.SP.1d Know random sampling supports valid inferences about populations.
  • 7.SP.4 Make informal comparisons of two populations using measures of center and variability.
  • 7.SP.5 Interpret probabilities as numbers from 0 to 1 showing likelihood.
  • 7.SP.6 Compare theoretical and experimental probabilities using several samples.
