How the generator writes comments

It reads each student's grades for every subject, their progress since the last grading period, effort and goals, then builds each comment from more than 550 original sentence parts: a strength, progress, effort and a next step. It mixes the parts so no two students get the same text, and writes they, he or she correctly.

AI report card comments: our approach

Many teachers now paste notes into AI chatbots to draft comments. That can save time, but it often means sending student names, grades and personal details to another company, and the results can sound alike or invent things that are not true.

• No student data leaves your device. The generator runs in your browser from our own comment bank; there is no AI service in the loop.
• Nothing is invented. Every sentence comes from your grades and choices, so you can check it.
• You stay the author. Edit anything, and write the personal comment yourself.
• Coming later: an optional "Polish with Ask Fern" button that would send only the comment text, with the student's name replaced by [Pupil].
