How to use the wheel
- Type or paste names into the class list, one per line. Save a list for each class.
- Press Spin (or the middle of the wheel). The pointer at the top shows the winner.
- Tick Remove the winner to take each picked name off the wheel until you put them back.
- Press Full screen for the board.
Is the wheel fair?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts turning, so every name has exactly the same chance. The spin animation then lands on that name.
Ways to use a name wheel in class
- Choose who answers next, reads aloud or shares their work.
- Pick classroom jobs for the week.
- Put topics, questions or review games on the wheel instead of names.
- Choose a brain break or a reward.
Private by design
Names you type are saved in your own browser on this device so they are there next time. They are never uploaded, and we can't see them. Use first names, initials or numbers if you prefer, and avoid anything more personal.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add names to the wheel?
Type them in the class list box, one per line, or paste a column of names from a spreadsheet. The wheel updates as you type.
Can I remove a name after it is picked?
Yes. Tick "Remove the winner" and each picked name is taken off the wheel. Press "Put removed names back" to start again. Your saved class list is not changed.
Can I use it for things other than names?
Yes. Put anything on the list: questions, topics, prizes, numbers or vocabulary words.
Is my class list saved?
Yes, in this browser on this device only. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
