- 8.NO.NS.1 Compare and classify numbers within the real number system.
- 8.NO.NS.2 Use rational approximations to compare, place and estimate irrational numbers and simple expressions.
- 8.NO.NS.3 Use scientific notation for very large and very small quantities and compare it with standard form.
- 8.NO.O.1 Mentally find square roots up to 225 and cube roots up to 1,000 for perfect powers.
- 8.NO.O.2 Use all four operations with rational numbers through strategies or procedures.
Algebraic Reasoning (AR)
- 8.AR.EE.1 Explain integer exponent properties through repeated multiplication and apply one property at a time.
- 8.AR.EE.2 Use square and cube root symbols for solutions of x² = p and x³ = p.
- 8.AR.EE.3 Explain linear relationships and find slope and y-intercept in tables, graphs, equations and descriptions.
- 8.AR.EE.4 Show linear relationships in tables, graphs, equations (y = mx + b) and descriptions.
- 8.AR.EE.5 Solve linear equations with rational coefficients and variables on both sides and interpret the number of solutions.
- 8.AR.EE.6 Evaluate expressions with absolute value and solve and graph
- 8.AR.EE.7 Solve and graph one-variable inequalities with rational coefficients and variables on both sides.
- 8.AR.EE.8 Graph linear inequalities in two variables and interpret solutions in context.

- 8.AR.F.2 Compare and contrast two linear functions shown in different ways.
- 8.AR.F.3 Compare and contrast linear and nonlinear functions in different forms.
- 8.AR.F.4 Model a linear function with a table, graph and equation and interpret its rate of change and starting value.
- 8.AR.F.5 Describe a graph: constant, increasing or decreasing, linear or nonlinear, discrete or continuous.
Geometry and Measurement (GM)
- 8.GM.AV.1 Use formulas for the volume of cones, cylinders and spheres.
- 8.GM.GF.1 Carry out single transformations on the coordinate plane and decide if figures are congruent or similar.
- 8.GM.GF.2 Describe transformations on the coordinate plane using the right vocabulary.
- 8.GM.GF.3 Name up to two transformations that map a figure onto its image.
- 8.GM.GF.4 Describe interior and exterior triangle angles and angles made by transversals and solve for unknowns.
- 8.GM.GF.5 Describe how legs and hypotenuse of a right triangle relate and decide whether a triangle is right.
- 8.GM.GF.6 Use the Pythagorean theorem to find unknown sides in two and three dimensions.
Data, Probability and Statistics (DPS)
- 8.DPS.D.1 Interpret scatter plots for clusters, outliers and linear or nonlinear association.
- 8.DPS.D.2 Draw an informal trend line on a scatter plot and justify the fit.
- 8.DPS.D.3 Interpret the slope and intercept of a linear model and use it to predict.
- 8.DPS.D.4 Make and interpret two-way tables, including joint and marginal relative frequencies.
