Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA)

• MT.5.OA.1 Use parentheses, brackets and braces and evaluate expressions with order of operations.
• MT.5.OA.2 Write numerical expressions for calculations and interpret them without evaluating.
• MT.5.OA.3 Make two number patterns, build input–output tables, form ordered pairs and graph them.

Number and Operations in Base Ten (NBT)

• MT.5.NBT.1 Know a digit is worth ten times the place to its right and one tenth of the place to its left.
• MT.5.NBT.2 Explain patterns of zeros and decimal shifts with powers of 10, using whole-number exponents.
• MT.5.NBT.3 Read, write and compare decimals to thousandths in several forms.
• MT.5.NBT.4 Round decimals to any place.
• MT.5.NBT.5 Multiply multi-digit whole numbers with the standard algorithm.

• MT.5.NF.3 Interpret fractions as division and solve problems with fraction or mixed-number answers.

• MT.5.NF.5 Predict whether a product is larger or smaller than a factor by comparing the other factor with 1.

Measurement and Data (MD)

• MT.5.MD.1 Convert units within one system and solve multistep problems in context.
• MT.5.MD.2 Make line plots of fractional measurements and solve problems using operations on fractions.
• MT.5.MD.3 Understand volume as packing with unit cubes, the volume being the number of cubes.
• MT.5.MD.4 Measure volume by counting cubic units, including non-standard units.
• MT.5.MD.5 Find volumes of right rectangular prisms with formulas and by adding non-overlapping parts, in context.

Geometry (G)

• MT.5.G.1 Use axes and the origin to set up a coordinate system and locate points with ordered pairs.
• MT.5.G.2 Graph first-quadrant points and interpret coordinates in context, using designs and cultural contexts.
• MT.5.G.3 Know attributes of a category of shapes also apply to its subcategories.
• MT.5.G.4 Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy by their properties.
