Mathematical Practices (MP)

• 1.MP.1 Solve problems, discuss solutions and check reasoning (MP1: make sense of problems and persevere).
• 1.MP.2 Link quantities to symbols and turn situations into number sentences (MP2).
• 1.MP.3 Explain thinking with concrete objects and evaluate others' explanations (MP3).
• 1.MP.4 Show problems in several ways and connect the representations (MP4).
• 1.MP.5 Choose and justify helpful tools for solving problems (MP5).
• 1.MP.6 Use clear math words and symbols (MP6).
• 1.MP.7 Notice number patterns and properties to solve problems (MP7).
• 1.MP.8 Notice repeated actions and patterns such as place value and fact families (MP8).

Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA)

• 1.OA.1 Solve addition and subtraction word problems within 20 with the unknown in any position.
• 1.OA.6 Add and subtract within 20, fluent within 10.
• 1.OA.7 Understand the equal sign and decide if equations are true or false.

Number and Operations in Base Ten (NBT)

• 1.NBT.1 Extend the counting sequence to 120.
  • 1.NBT.1a Count forward and backward from any number below 120.
  • 1.NBT.1b Read numerals.
  • 1.NBT.1c Write numerals.
  • 1.NBT.1d Write a numeral to show how many objects.
• 1.NBT.2 Understand that two-digit numbers are made of tens and ones.
  • 1.NBT.2a Know 10 is a bundle of ten ones.
  • 1.NBT.2b Know 11–19 are one ten and some ones.
  • 1.NBT.2c Know 10, 20 … 90 are multiples of ten.
• 1.NBT.4 Add within 100 using models and place-value strategies.
