The standards (our summaries)

Oklahoma's official codes with our own short summaries (not the official wording). Each code links to the official document.

Number & Operations (N)

  • Read, write, compare, classify, and show real numbers and use them in problems.
    • PA.N.1.1 Use integer exponent rules, including zero exponents, to write equivalent expressions.
    • PA.N.1.2 Write and compare approximations of very large and very small numbers in scientific notation.
    • PA.N.1.3 Multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation and give answers in scientific notation.
    • PA.N.1.4 Order real numbers on a number line, find square roots of perfect squares to 400, and place irrational numbers.

Algebraic Reasoning & Algebra (A)

  • Explain what a function is and tell linear from nonlinear functions.
    • PA.A.1.1 Recognize that a function pairs each input (independent variable) with one output (dependent variable).
    • PA.A.1.2 Model situations with linear functions.
    • PA.A.1.3 Identify linear functions from their equation form or a non-vertical straight-line graph.
  • Identify and justify linear functions in models, solve problems with them, and interpret results.
    • PA.A.2.1 Move linear functions between tables, words, symbols, and graphs.
    • PA.A.2.2 Identify and analyze linear relationships between two variables.
    • PA.A.2.3 Interpret slope and intercepts, including slope as a rate of change.
    • PA.A.2.4 Predict with tools how changing slope or intercept changes a line's graph.
    • PA.A.2.5 Solve problems with linear functions and interpret answers in context.
  • Write equivalent expressions and evaluate them using algebraic properties.
    • PA.A.3.1 Simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions by substituting values.
    • PA.A.3.2 Justify steps in simplifying expressions by combining like terms and naming properties.
  • Model and solve problems with equations and inequalities with linear expressions.
    • PA.A.4.1 Solve one-variable linear equations with one, infinitely many, or no solutions and interpret them.
    • PA.A.4.2 Solve and graph one-variable linear inequalities of the form px + q compared with r.
    • PA.A.4.3 Model real-world situations with one-variable equations and inequalities.

Geometry & Measurement (GM)

  • Use the Pythagorean theorem to solve triangle problems.
    • PA.GM.1.1 Justify the Pythagorean theorem with measurement, diagrams, or software and use it with right triangles.
    • PA.GM.1.2 Use the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance between two points on a coordinate plane.
  • Justify and use surface area and volume formulas for solid figures.
    • PA.GM.2.1 Find the surface area of a rectangular prism by decomposing it or using a net.
    • PA.GM.2.2 Find the surface area of a cylinder in terms of pi and with approximations, using nets or decomposition.
    • PA.GM.2.3 Justify why base area times height gives a rectangular prism's volume.
    • PA.GM.2.4 Use the volume formula for right cylinders and justify base area times height.

Data & Probability (D)

  • Show and interpret data with scatter plots and estimated lines of best fit to predict and conclude.
    • PA.D.1.1 Describe with technology how adding or removing a data point changes the mean and median.
    • PA.D.1.2 Explain how outliers affect measures of center and spread.
    • PA.D.1.3 Make scatter plots, estimate lines of best fit, describe the average rate of change, and predict.
  • Find experimental probabilities and reason about probability to solve problems.
    • PA.D.2.1 Find experimental probability as a fraction, decimal, or percent and use it to predict frequencies.
    • PA.D.2.2 Explain how random sampling lets us generalize to a population, and its limits and possible bias.
    • PA.D.2.3 Define and compare probabilities of dependent and independent events.
