  • 5.OA.2 Write simple expressions for calculations and interpret expressions without evaluating them.
  • 5.OA.3 Generate two number patterns from given rules, form ordered pairs from their terms and graph them.

Number and Operations in Base Ten (5.NBT)

  • 5.NBT.1 Recognize that a digit is worth ten times as much as in the place to its right and 1/10 as much as to its left.
  • 5.NBT.2 Explain patterns in zeros and decimal point placement when multiplying or dividing by powers of 10.
  • 5.NBT.3 Read, write and compare decimals to thousandths.
    • a. Write decimals to thousandths in standard, word and expanded form.
    • b. Compare decimals to thousandths by place value using >, = and <.
  • 5.NBT.4 Round decimals to any place from hundredths to millions using place value.
  • 5.NBT.5 Multiply multi-digit whole numbers fluently with the standard algorithm.
  • 5.NBT.6 Divide four-digit dividends by two-digit divisors using place value, properties and models.
  • 5.NBT.7 Solve real-world problems with decimal operations, explaining with models or drawings.
    • a. Add and subtract decimals to hundredths, including with whole numbers.
    • b. Multiply whole numbers (to hundreds) by decimals to hundredths.
    • c. Divide decimals and whole numbers when it can be modeled easily.

Number and Operations—Fractions (5.NF)

  • 5.NF.1 Add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators using equivalent fractions.

    • a. Interpret a fraction of a quantity as equal parts of it.
    • b. Find areas of rectangles with fraction sides by tiling unit squares.
  • 5.NF.5 Interpret multiplication as scaling and compare product size with factor size without multiplying.
    • a. Compare a product with one factor by the size of the other.
    • b. Explain how multiplying by fractions resizes and connect to equivalence.
  • 5.NF.6 Solve real-world problems multiplying fractions and mixed numbers with models or equations.
  • 5.NF.7 Divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
    • a. Divide a unit fraction by a whole number; check with multiplication.
    • b. Divide a whole number by a unit fraction; check with multiplication.
