The standards (our summaries)
Missouri's official codes with our own short summaries (not the official wording). Each code links to the official document.
Number Sense and Operations in Base Ten (NBT), cluster A
- 5.NBT.A.1 Read, write, and identify numbers from thousandths up to billions in words, numerals, and expanded form.
- 5.NBT.A.2 Compare numbers from billions to thousandths with >, =, and < and justify.
- 5.NBT.A.3 Know a digit is worth a tenth of what it would be one place to the left.
- 5.NBT.A.4 Evaluate powers of 10 and link them to place value.
- 5.NBT.A.5 Round numbers from billions to thousandths.
- 5.NBT.A.6 Add and subtract whole numbers and decimals to thousandths, and justify.
- 5.NBT.A.7 Multiply whole numbers and decimals to hundredths, and justify.
- 5.NBT.A.8 Divide whole numbers and decimals to hundredths (divisors up to two digits, dividends up to four), and justify.
Number Sense and Operations in Fractions (NF), cluster A
Number Sense and Operations in Fractions (NF), cluster B
- 5.NF.B.4 Estimate sums, differences, and products of fractions and decimals to thousandths.
- Justify whether a product of fractions is reasonable.
- 5.NF.B.5a Estimate how big a product will be from the size of its factors.
- 5.NF.B.5b Explain why multiplying by a fraction greater than 1 gives a bigger number.
- 5.NF.B.5c Explain why multiplying by a fraction less than 1 gives a smaller number.
- 5.NF.B.5d Explain why multiplying top and bottom by the same number is the same as multiplying by 1.
- 5.NF.B.6 Solve problems that add or subtract unlike-denominator fractions and mixed numbers, and justify.
- Extend multiplication to products where a fraction or whole number is multiplied by a fraction.
- 5.NF.B.7a Link multiplying fractions with finding areas of rectangles with fraction sides.
- 5.NF.B.7b Find and interpret a fraction times a whole number and a whole number times a fraction.
- 5.NF.B.7c Find and interpret products of two fractions that are each less than one.
- Extend division to unit fractions and whole numbers with visual models and equations.
- 5.NF.B.8a Find and interpret a unit fraction divided by a nonzero whole number.
- 5.NF.B.8b Find and interpret a whole number divided by a unit fraction.
