The standards (our summaries)

Missouri's official codes with our own short summaries (not the official wording). Each code links to the official document.

  • 3.NBT.A.2 Read, write, and identify whole numbers to 100,000 in numerals, words, and expanded form.
  • 3.NBT.A.3 Add and subtract fluently within 1000.
  • 3.NBT.A.4 Multiply whole numbers by multiples of 10 from 10 to 90.

Number Sense and Operations in Fractions (NF), cluster A

  • 3.NF.A.1 Understand a unit fraction as one of the equal parts of a whole.
  • Understand that a fraction can name part of a whole split into equal parts.
  • 3.NF.A.2a Know the numerator tells how many parts are being counted.
  • 3.NF.A.2b Know the denominator tells how many parts make the whole.
  • Show fractions on a number line.
  • 3.NF.A.3a Treat the whole as the space from 0 to 1.
  • 3.NF.A.3b Split that whole into equal parts.
  • 3.NF.A.3c See a fraction as the end point after a number of those parts from 0.
  • 3.NF.A.4 Show two fractions are equal when they are the same size or at the same point on a number line.
  • 3.NF.A.5 Find equivalent fractions with visual models and explain why they are equal.
  • 3.NF.A.6 Compare two fractions that share a numerator or a denominator, using >, =, or <, and justify.
  • 3.NF.A.7 Explain why fractions can only be compared when they refer to the same whole.

Relationships and Algebraic Thinking (RA), cluster A

  • 3.RA.A.1 Interpret products of whole numbers.
  • 3.RA.A.2 Interpret quotients of whole numbers.
  • 3.RA.A.3 Describe a multiplication or division situation in words or pictures.
  • 3.RA.A.4 Solve problems with multiplication and division within 100.
  • 3.RA.A.5 Find the missing number in a multiplication or division equation with three numbers.

Relationships and Algebraic Thinking (RA), cluster B

  • 3.RA.B.6 Use operation properties as strategies when multiplying and dividing.

Relationships and Algebraic Thinking (RA), cluster C

  • 3.RA.C.7 Multiply and divide within 100 using strategies, and know all one-digit by one-digit products.
  • 3.RA.C.8 Find products within 100 fluently.

Relationships and Algebraic Thinking (RA), cluster D

  • 3.RA.D.9 Write and solve two-step problems with variables using any operation.
  • 3.RA.D.10 Judge whether answers are reasonable using mental math, estimation, and rounding.

Relationships and Algebraic Thinking (RA), cluster E

  • 3.RA.E.11 Find patterns in arithmetic and explain them with properties of operations.

Geometry and Measurement (GM), cluster A

  • 3.GM.A.1 Know shapes in different groups can share features that define a larger group.
  • 3.GM.A.2 Recognize rhombuses and rectangles as quadrilaterals and draw quadrilaterals that are neither.
  • 3.GM.A.3 Split shapes into parts of equal area and name each part as a unit fraction.

Geometry and Measurement (GM), cluster B

  • 3.GM.B.4 Tell and write the time to the minute.
  • 3.GM.B.5 Estimate time intervals in minutes.
  • 3.GM.B.6 Solve problems adding and subtracting minutes.
  • 3.GM.B.7 Measure or estimate the length, liquid volume, and weight of objects.
  • 3.GM.B.8 Use all four operations to solve problems with lengths, volumes, or weights in the same units.

Geometry and Measurement (GM), cluster C

  • 3.GM.C.9 Find area by covering a flat figure with unit squares, leaving no gaps or overlaps.
  • 3.GM.C.10 Label area in square units.
  • 3.GM.C.11 Show that tiling a rectangle and multiplying its sides give the same area.
  • 3.GM.C.12 Multiply whole-number side lengths to solve rectangle area problems.
  • 3.GM.C.13 Find the different rectangles that can have a given area.
  • 3.GM.C.14 Split a rectangle into smaller rectangles to find its area.

Geometry and Measurement (GM), cluster D

  • 3.GM.D.15 Solve problems about the perimeter of polygons.
  • 3.GM.D.16 See that rectangles can share a perimeter but differ in area, or share an area but differ in perimeter.

Data and Statistics (DS), cluster A

  • 3.DS.A.1 Make scaled bar graphs, scaled picture graphs, and frequency tables for data with several categories.
  • 3.DS.A.2 Solve one- and two-step problems with data from bar or picture graphs.
