- 7.1.1.1 Know rational numbers as integer ratios or decimals; know π is irrational but can be approximated.
- 7.1.1.2 Understand that dividing integers gives a rational number and interpret calculator decimals.
- 7.1.1.3 Locate positive and negative rational numbers on a number line and grid; understand opposites.
- 7.1.1.4 Compare positive and negative rational numbers in different forms using <, = and >.
- 7.1.1.5 Recognize and generate equivalent forms of positive and negative rational numbers.
- 7.1.2.1 Add, subtract, multiply and divide integers, fractions and terminating decimals, including whole-number exponents.
- 7.1.2.2 Use real contexts and inverse operations to justify rules for signed numbers.
- 7.1.2.3 Understand that calculators and computers may truncate or round results.
- 7.1.2.4 Solve problems with positive and negative rational numbers and exponents, including simple and compound interest.
- 7.1.2.5 Use proportional reasoning to solve ratio problems in many contexts.
- 7.1.2.6 Relate absolute value to distance on a number line and use absolute value notation.
Strand 2: Algebra
- 7.2.1.1 Understand proportional relationships (y/x = k or y = kx) and tell them from inverse proportion.
- 7.2.1.2 Graph proportional relationships as lines through the origin with slope equal to the unit rate.
- 7.2.2.1 Represent proportional relationships in tables, words, symbols, equations and graphs; find unit rates.
- 7.2.2.2 Solve multi-step problems with proportional relationships in many contexts.
- 7.2.2.3 Check whether answers to proportion problems make sense.
- 7.2.2.4 Represent situations with equations and inequalities involving variables and signed rational numbers.
- 7.2.3.1 Use properties to write equivalent expressions with signed rational numbers, grouping symbols and exponents.
- 7.2.3.2 Evaluate expressions with signed rational numbers and exponents for given values.
- 7.2.3.3 Apply order of operations and grouping symbols correctly with calculators and technology.
- 7.2.4.1 Write and solve equations with signed rational numbers and interpret solutions in context.
- 7.2.4.2 Solve equations from proportional relationships in various contexts.
Strand 3: Geometry & Measurement
- 7.3.1.1 Show circumference is π times diameter and find circumference, area and sector areas of circles.
- 7.3.1.2 Find volume and surface area of cylinders and justify the formulas.
- 7.3.2.1 Describe properties of similar figures, decide whether figures are similar and find scale factors.
- 7.3.2.2 Use scale factors and ratios to find lengths and areas of similar figures.
- 7.3.2.3 Use proportions with scale drawings and unit conversions.
- 7.3.2.4 Graph and describe translations and reflections on a grid and find new vertex coordinates.
Strand 4: Data Analysis & Probability
- 7.4.1.1 Design simple experiments, find mean, median and range of the data and draw conclusions.
- 7.4.1.2 Describe how adding or removing a data value changes the mean and median.
- 7.4.2.1 Use proportional reasoning to make and read circle graphs and histograms and choose suitable displays.
- 7.4.3.1 Simulate chance events with random numbers, graph results and compare with known probabilities.
- 7.4.3.2 Find probability as a fraction of a sample space or area, as a percent, decimal or fraction.
- 7.4.3.3 Use proportional reasoning to predict frequencies of outcomes from probabilities.
