The standards (our summaries)

Georgia's official codes with our own short summaries (not the official wording). Each code links to the official document.

Mathematical Practices (MP)

  • K.MP Keep going with problems, reason, work with others, explain thinking, use feedback and set learning goals.

Numerical Reasoning (NR)

  • K.NR.1 Link numbers up to 20 to quantities and understand that the last number counted gives the total.
    • K.NR.1.1 Count up to 20 objects in an arrangement, or up to 10 scattered objects.
    • K.NR.1.2 Explain that the last number said when counting tells how many, however the objects are arranged.
    • K.NR.1.3 Say the number that is one more or one less than a number from 1 to 20.
    • K.NR.1.4 Name pennies, nickels and dimes and know what each coin is worth.
  • K.NR.2 Count forward and backward in order within 100.
    • K.NR.2.1 Count to 100 by ones and by tens, and count back from 20 by ones.
    • K.NR.2.2 Count on from any number within 100 and count back from any number within 20.
  • K.NR.3 Use place value ideas to build and break apart the numbers 11 to 19.
    • K.NR.3.1 Show the numbers 11 to 19 as one ten and some ones.
  • K.NR.4 Recognize, write, show and compare numbers up to 20.
    • K.NR.4.1 Read and write the numerals 0 to 20 and match each to a count of objects.
    • K.NR.4.2 Compare two groups of up to 10 objects as more than, less than or the same as.
  • K.NR.5 Understand adding, subtracting and equality, and solve everyday problems within 10.
    • K.NR.5.1 Make and break apart numbers up to 10 with objects and drawings.
    • K.NR.5.2 Show addition and subtraction situations within 10 in different ways.
    • K.NR.5.3 Choose from a range of strategies to add and subtract within 10.
    • K.NR.5.4 Add and subtract within 5 fluently using flexible strategies.

Patterning & Algebraic Reasoning (PAR)

  • K.PAR.6 Explain, continue and make repeating patterns, and describe patterns in the passing of time.
    • K.PAR.6.1 Make, extend and describe repeating patterns of numbers and shapes and say the rule.
    • K.PAR.6.2 Describe patterns of time with words linked to real events (morning, night, days).

Measurement & Data Reasoning (MDR)

  • K.MDR.7 Compare measurable features of objects and use simple graphs to answer questions.
    • K.MDR.7.1 Compare and order objects directly by length, height, width or weight.
    • K.MDR.7.2 Sort up to ten objects by a feature, count each group and order the groups by size.
    • K.MDR.7.3 Ask and answer questions using information gathered and shown in simple displays.

Geometric & Spatial Reasoning (GSR)

  • K.GSR.8 Recognize, describe and compare basic shapes and build 2-D and 3-D shapes.
    • K.GSR.8.1 Name, sort and compare flat and solid shapes using everyday words about their features.
    • K.GSR.8.2 Describe where an object is using position words such as above, beside and behind.
    • K.GSR.8.3 Use basic shapes to model shapes seen in the world around them.
    • K.GSR.8.4 Put two or more basic shapes together to make bigger shapes.
