    • 1.NR.1.2 Explain that the two digits of a two-digit number stand for tens and ones.
    • 1.NR.1.3 Compare and order numbers up to 100 using models and the symbols >, = and <.
  • 1.NR.2 Understand how addition and subtraction are related and solve everyday problems within 20.
    • 1.NR.2.1 Add and subtract within 20 using counting-on and part-whole strategies.
    • 1.NR.2.2 Build addition and subtraction strategies within 20 from sets of related problems.
    • 1.NR.2.3 Use subtraction as the inverse of addition to solve problems within 20.
    • 1.NR.2.4 Add and subtract within 10 fluently using a variety of strategies.
    • 1.NR.2.5 Use the meaning of the equal sign to decide if addition and subtraction equations are true.
    • 1.NR.2.6 Find the missing whole number in an addition or subtraction equation with three numbers.
    • 1.NR.2.7 Use properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract within 20.
  • 1.NR.5 Add and subtract within 100 using models, place value and properties of operations.
    • 1.NR.5.1 Solve one- and two-digit addition and subtraction problems with varied strategies and explain them.
    • 1.NR.5.2 Find 10 more or 10 less than a two-digit number mentally and explain how.
    • 1.NR.5.3 Add and subtract multiples of 10 within 100 and explain the thinking.

Patterning & Algebraic Reasoning (PAR)

  • 1.PAR.3 Recognize, describe, continue and make repeating, growing and shrinking patterns from real life.
    • 1.PAR.3.1 Explore, make and predict repeating patterns with a core of up to three parts.
    • 1.PAR.3.2 Find, describe and make growing, shrinking and repeating patterns counting by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s.

Measurement & Data Reasoning (MDR)

  • 1.MDR.6 Measure, order and compare lengths and time, and solve problems with money.
    • 1.MDR.6.1 Estimate and measure with non-standard units, then compare and order up to three objects.
    • 1.MDR.6.2 Tell and write time to the hour and half hour and find elapsed time in hours on a number line.
    • 1.MDR.6.3 Know the value of a quarter and compare pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.
    • 1.MDR.6.4 Ask and answer questions using data to compare and order whole numbers.

Geometric & Spatial Reasoning (GSR)

  • 1.GSR.4 Put shapes together, study their features and relate the parts to the whole.
    • 1.GSR.4.1 Name, sort and classify common flat and solid shapes by features, and build and draw them.
    • 1.GSR.4.2 Combine flat or solid shapes into composite shapes and make new shapes from them.
    • 1.GSR.4.3 Split circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares.
