How to use this report card
- Choose how you will grade: letter grades, percentages or levels such as Exceeding, Meeting, Approaching, Beginning. Write your key on the year summary page.
- At the end of each term, fill in a grade or level and one or two comments for each subject: a strength and a next step.
- Add the days attended (and hours, if you track them) from your attendance and hours log.
- If a tutor teaches a subject, copy their comments from the tutor session log.
- Print it or download Word, and keep a copy with your portfolio.
How to grade in a homeschool
Base grades on real work: tests and quizzes, written work, projects and how well your child can explain what they have learned. Our free practice tests give a quick, dated score you can use alongside your own judgment.
Private and free
Everything you type is saved in this browser on this device. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so print or download Word copies of anything you want to keep.
Frequently asked questions
Do homeschoolers need report cards?
Not always. Many families make one each term anyway, because it is a clear record of progress and it helps if a child moves to a school later.
Should I use letter grades or comments?
Either works. Younger children often get levels and comments; older students often get letter grades, which are easier to turn into a transcript later.
Can a tutor fill in part of the report card?
Yes. Ask the tutor for a grade and a comment for their subject, or copy them from the tutor session log.
