  • KY.4.OA.2 Solve comparison problems by multiplying or dividing and tell them apart from additive ones.
  • KY.4.OA.3 Solve multi-step problems using order of operations, remainders and checks for reasonableness.
    • a. Use the usual order of operations when there are no parentheses.
    • b. Solve word problems and check answers by estimating and mental math.
  • KY.4.OA.4 Work with factors, multiples, primes and composites for numbers 1 to 100.
    • a. List all the factor pairs of a whole number.
    • b. Know a whole number is a multiple of each of its factors.
    • c. Decide whether a number is a multiple of a given one-digit number.
    • d. Decide whether a number is prime or composite.
  • KY.4.OA.5 Make patterns that follow a rule and notice features not stated in the rule.

Number and Operations in Base Ten (NBT)

  • KY.4.NBT.1 Know that each place is worth ten times the place to its right.
  • KY.4.NBT.2 Read, write and compare multi-digit whole numbers using place value and symbols.
    • a. Write numbers as numerals, number names or expanded form.
    • b. Compare multi-digit numbers digit by digit using symbols.
  • KY.4.NBT.3 Round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
  • KY.4.NBT.4 Add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers fluently using algorithms.
  • KY.4.NBT.5 Multiply up to four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers and two two-digit numbers.
  • KY.4.NBT.6 Divide up to four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers, finding quotients and remainders.

Number and Operations—Fractions (NF)

  • KY.4.NF.1 Make and recognize equivalent fractions with visual models.
    • a. Use visual models to make and spot equivalent fractions.
    • b. Explain why multiplying top and bottom by the same number keeps the value.
  • KY.4.NF.2 Compare fractions with unlike parts using symbols, knowing they must refer to the same whole.
  • KY.4.NF.3 Add, subtract and break apart fractions with like denominators.
    • a. Add and subtract fractions as joining and separating parts of a whole.
    • b. Break a fraction into a sum of unit fractions and record it as an equation.
    • c. Add and subtract mixed numbers with like denominators.
    • d. Solve word problems adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators.
  • KY.4.NF.4 Multiply a fraction by a whole number, seeing fractions as multiples of unit fractions.
    • a. Understand a fraction as a multiple of its unit fraction.
    • b. Multiply a fraction by a whole number using unit-fraction multiples.
    • c. Solve word problems multiplying a fraction by a whole number.
  • KY.4.NF.5 Change tenths to hundredths and add fractions with denominators 10 and 100.
    • a. Write a fraction in tenths as an equivalent fraction in hundredths.

    • b. Compare decimals only when they refer to the same whole.
    • c. Record comparisons with symbols and justify them.

Measurement and Data (MD)

  • KY.4.MD.1 Know the relative sizes of units in one measurement system and convert between them.
