The tests

About these tests

Six free KS2 SATs-style reading practice papers for Year 6. Each paper has two original texts – a mix of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, with the harder text second – and 15 questions covering the reading skills in the test framework: word meanings in context, finding information, summarising, inference, prediction, how the text is organised, the writer’s choice of words, and comparisons. Each paper is shorter than the real test, so it suits a 30-minute session. Questions are marked automatically, so questions that would ask for a written explanation in the real test are given here as multiple choice with one best answer. Practise with the timer off first.
