The tests
About these tests
Free Functional Skills-style English practice for adults and young people in England, from Entry Level 1 to Level 2: reading everyday and workplace texts, spelling, punctuation and grammar. Every question has one clear answer and an explanation.
The real Functional Skills English assessments also include writing tasks and, for speaking, listening and communicating, an assessment by the centre. Those cannot be marked by a computer, so these tests cover the parts that can. The spelling questions use common everyday words; they are not copies of the official word lists in the subject content appendix.
