The tests
About these tests
Free science practice tests for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, written for the national curriculum in England. Each test covers the science topics for its year, such as plants, rocks, light, sound, electricity, Earth and space, and evolution.
Every question has a short explanation, and each test picks new questions from a larger bank when you try again. The questions are our own: they are not taken from past papers.
Key facts
- The national curriculum sets out the science that pupils should be taught in each year of key stage 2, and across key stage 3 (Years 7 to 9). Source: National curriculum in England: science programmes of study (GOV.UK)
- In Year 6, pupils learn only about series circuits, not parallel circuits, and learn to draw circuits using recognised symbols. Source: Science programmes of study: key stages 1 and 2 (Year 6, electricity)
How to use these tests
- Choose Practice to see the answer and explanation after each question, or Test to see them all at the end.
