Verbal reasoning practice tests

Free verbal reasoning practice for ages 7 to adult with UK or US spelling: word pairs, odd one out, synonyms, antonyms, hidden words and letter codes.

These are practice puzzles, not an IQ test. A real IQ test is standardised and given by a qualified psychologist.

Scores are shown simply as the number right out of the number of questions (for example, 18 out of 25), with an explanation for every question. We never give an IQ number, a percentile or a label, and we never compare you with other people.

About these tests

Verbal reasoning puzzles test how you think with words: how words are linked, which word does not belong, words that mean the same or the opposite, words hidden inside sentences and letter codes. Choose the UK or US spelling version. Answers are checked by computer programs, and every test is reviewed by an independent AI checker that didn't write it. Spot a mistake? Use the Report button.
