What does the School Report Writer do, and where is pupil data kept?
The School Report Writer is part of Classfern Pro. You keep marks, attendance and quick notes through the year; it writes the statistics and subject comments for each report, and you add the personal comment. All pupil data stays in your browser on your device.
Step by step
- Read what it does on the School Report Writer page and try the free demo (nothing in the demo is saved).
- Members open the tool at the report writer app.
- Set up a class with a number or code for each pupil (safest), or first names if your school allows.
- Add assessments, marks, attendance, targets and quick notes as the year goes on.
- Write the reports, add your personal comment, then print, save as PDF or download Word.
Questions and fixes
Is pupil data sent to Classfern?
No. Classes, marks, notes and reports are kept only in a database inside your browser (“classfern-reports”). They are never sent to us, never part of Pro sync and the tool has no adverts or third-party code. See using it safely.
What must I never enter?
Surnames, dates of birth, addresses, medical or SEN diagnoses, safeguarding concerns or details of behaviour incidents. Report safeguarding concerns through your school’s procedure straight away.
