How do I print my lesson plan or save it as a PDF?

Press Print or PDF under “Save and share”. Both open your browser’s print window with only the plan on the page; for a PDF, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.

Step by step

  1. Open your plan in the Lesson Plan Maker.
  2. Press Print to print, or PDF to save a PDF file.
  3. In the print window, pick your printer, or choose Save as PDF as the destination.
  4. The PDF is named after your lesson title. Press Save.

Questions and fixes

How do I save it as a PDF instead of printing?

In the print window, change the printer (often called “Destination”) to Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF, then press Save. On an iPhone or iPad, use Print, then pinch out on the preview and share it as a PDF.

The printout is cut off or has the wrong margins

In the print window, set the scale to “Default” or “Fit to page”, keep margins on “Default”, and check the paper size (A4 in the UK, Letter in the US). Turning on “Background graphics” keeps coloured boxes and shading.

The print window doesn’t open, or nothing happens when I press Print

Some browsers block the print window inside apps (for example, a link opened from an email or social media app). Open the page in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox and try again. On a phone, use the browser’s Share menu and then Print.

There is an extra line at the bottom of my printout

Printouts end with a small “Made with Classfern” line. You can switch it off on the cookies and storage page.
