How do I download my lesson plan as a Word document?
Press Word (.docx) under “Save and share”. The file is made in your browser and downloads straight away, ready to open in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice.
Step by step
- Open your plan in the Lesson Plan Maker.
- Under “Save and share”, press Word (.docx).
- Look in your Downloads folder for a file named after your lesson title.
- Open it in Microsoft Word (or upload it to Google Drive and open with Google Docs). UK formats use A4 paper; US formats use Letter.
- Want an empty form instead? Press Blank Word template.

Questions and fixes
I can’t find the downloaded file
Check your browser’s downloads list (Ctrl+J on Windows, Cmd+Shift+J on a Mac, or the download arrow in the toolbar). On an iPhone, look in the Files app under Downloads.
Word says the file is in Protected View
That is normal for downloaded files. Press Enable Editing at the top of Word.
The paper size is wrong for my school
Change it in Word under Layout, Size. UK plans are A4 and US plans are Letter by default.
